This tour takes you to explore the world famous rock cut caves and murals of World Heritage sites of Ajanta and Ellora before moving on to a relaxing
beach holiday at India's most popular beach paradise, Goa.
Aurangabad is the city closest to these destinations and will be our base for three nights.
On the famous ancient 'Silk Route' that traversed across Asia to Europe, Aurangabad has been of great importance. Mughul Emperor Tughlaq and Emperor
Aurangzeb made Aurangabad (then known as Daulatabad) the capital of his kingdom of India due to its topography and strategic position. Today,
Aurangabad is most famous as a gateway to World Heritage Ajanta Ellora caves. Its wealth of other fascinating historical, cultural, religious and ecological
sites includes the Daulatabad fort, Bibi Ka Maqbara, Lonar crater and Ghrishneshwar Jyotirlinga among many others.
We start with a day trip to the famous rock cut caves temples of Ellora. Depicting the Buddhist, Hindu and Jain faiths, they were constructed between the
5th and 10th centuries BC. The most renowned of these is the architectural marvel of the monolithic Kailasa temple, carved out in the rocky cliffside from
top to bottom reflecting the power of the dance of Shiva. It apparently took 150 years to build and displaced three million cubic meters of rock.
The next day, we will take you on a day trip to Ajanta's wondrous cave temples. These are cut into the rocky sides of a dramatic crescent-shaped gorge, at
the head of which is a waterfall that drops over the mountain rim in a series of seven steps to a pool far below - the Saptakund. Dating back to the 2nd
century B.C, they cover a span of 800 years where, under royal patronage of ruling dynasties, professional artists helped Buddhist monks to create
magnificent murals narrating the story of Buddha in his cycle of incarnations. Etched and painted in vegetable and mineral dyes, the paintings are still
One of the highlights of your stay at Aurangabad is the Meadows Resort. Set away from the city, it has charming cottages scattered amongst acres of
verdant green garden and tropical flowers. Contemporary resort amenities like a swimming pool and in house restaurants as well as in room dining options
make it an ideal place to relax after day-long excursions.
From Aurangabad we move on to India's most famous beach town of Goa.
Your stay in Goa will be at the Montego Bay Beach Resort on Morjim Beach. Beautiful gardens with a fabulous beach right in front, you need not step out
of this little oasis. Lounge in the swimming pool sipping coconut water or a cocktail. Sun yourself on a deck chair soaking in the relaxed ambience and
sunshine. If you do decide to step out we recommend dinner at Vineet's. Set on the riverside with an old world charm, this place serves Anglo Indian
cuisine. Fresh seafood at the local shacks on the various beaches is also one of Goa's favourite must dos.
You will have the option to spend a day visiting the sites of Goa with your guide. Enjoy being taken to a few offbeat sites rather than where hordes of
tourists flock. Fort Aguada, which was built by the Portuguese in 1612, is a great site with fabulous views. Our next stop is Gothic styled Saligao Church,
located amidst picturesque surroundings in Bardez Taluka in North Goa. It enshrines the statue of Mae de Deus the literal translation of which is Mother of
God. You will then visit Bodgeshwar Temple and then finally Mapusa City, which is well known for its weekly Friday bazaar where one can buy an
extremely wide variety of items ranging from pottery, plants, decorative items, vegetables etc.
The last day is spent driving to the airport for you return journey and that is where the tour ends.
