This tour takes you to the best birding sites along with the must do visit to the iconic Taj Mahal and the royal city of Jaipur.
We start with Delhi, India's capital city, where we take you for a tour of the magnificent Mughal past, the monuments and
architectural gems of British and modern India. The tour will include visits to the glorious Red fort, Qutab Minar, Asia's largest
mosque-The Jama Masjid, Lutyen's Delhi of the British Raj and modern India's architectural marvels like the Bahai temple.
Our next destination is the walled heritage city of Jaipur. With its enchanting old bazaars, havelis, forts and pink hued buildings, it
is full of romance and royal charm. There is so much to see in Jaipur that the best way to explore it is being on the roads, soaking
up the sights and sounds of this bustling city. Visiting the old heritage sights like City Palace, Hawa Mahal and various havelis and
old palaces that have now been converted into luxury hotels, gives you a glimpse of its erstwhile grandeur. The stunning Amber
Fort Palace established in 1592 by Man Singh I is a sight to behold. The narrow lanes of the charming bazaars in the walled city are
full of colour and beckon you to buy handcrafted souvenirs, paintings, textiles, blue pottery, traditional jewellery, bangles etc.
Every lane is a veritable treasure of some artistry, tie and dye art, gem cutting and polishing, leather work, bangle making. You can
see it all here.
We also take you to a very interesting resort away from the city where the ambience transports you to a traditional Rajasthani
village where you can enjoy a traditional meal, local folk dance and music performances, puppet shows etc.
After the hustle bustle of a city, we take you to the birding paradise of Bharatpur. Keoladeo Ghana National Park in Rajasthan was
declared a World Heritage Site in 1985. It is one of the most outstanding wetland reserves in Asia. Created by Maharaja of
Bharatpur for hunting by diverting canals and building small dams, conservation was a lucky by-product. Especially during the
winters, as monsoons refill the shallow marshes, it attracts thousands of waterfowl, herons, storks, cranes and waders. Seen flying
across the clear skies they make an incredible sight. Spotting scores of them together dotting the marshes is also an unforgettable
visual treat. The compactness of the area makes it possible to see over a hundred species in a stay of just a few days. At
Bharatpur, we will arrange a private cycle rickshaw guide for you to explore the park in a unique way.
The dilapidated Bharatpur Fort, Gopal Bhavan Palace and Mughal Rajput style gardens at Deeg (37 km away) may be worth a visit
for those interested in historical sites.
A trip to India seems incomplete without a visit to the most iconic manmade structure in the world, the Taj Mahal, where we shall
take you next. Built by Shah Jahan as the symbol for undying love for his wife Mumtaz Mahal, the sight of the white marble
structure does take your breath away. We also take you to Fatehpur Sikri, the new imperial capital built in the name of Sufi saint
Salim Chishti who had given the childless Emperor Akbar the blessing to have sons. An architectural and creative marvel, this
structure still inspires awe.
From this manmade extravaganza we whisk you away to River Chambal, one of the country's most beautiful and least polluted
river systems. The National Chambal Sanctuary was formed to protect this pristine river ecosystem. The river currently boasts of
over 290 species of resident and migratory bird species, including large nesting colonies of the rare Indian Skimmer, as well as
Marsh Crocodiles (Muggers), Gharial (Gavials), eight species Turtles, and highly endangered Gangetic River Dolphin. Best explored
on boats, you will be impressed by the calm and serene beauty and the numerous sightings this river has to offer.
Chamber Safari Lodge, a delightful quaint eco-lodge run by the local noble family is where we will be staying for the night.
